Conoco Phillips Blast Proof Operator Enclosure

About the Project

SafeSpace Modular Buildings

Refining oil can be a risky business but SafeSpace buildings help to keep employees safe.  Conoco Phillips needed to protect the operators of their Coke blasting operation near San Francisco. They required an operator enclosure to be built on top of their rig, 160 feet off the ground that was blast proof. Not easy things to do, unless you can design, build and inspect a prefabricated modular unit in a factory-controlled environment. SafeSpace was glad to help by providing certified engineering, sourcing appropriate blast proof glazing and constructing a super strong steel enclosure to house the operators of the equipment.

The unit was completed, inspected and lifted into place at their plant in just four weeks.  This use of prefab construction saved Conoco Phillips time and money as well as eliminated the substantial risk of construction in such a difficult location. This example of the innovative use of modular construction techniques demonstrates our desire and capability to help reduce the cost and risk of challenging environments.
