About the Project

Massachusetts

Perkins School for the Blind is the oldest school for the blind in the US, founded is 1829.  Its Campus is a collection of classic colonial architecture making and any new additions a challenge to blend in with the character of the existing buildings.

Like many schools, Perkins is adding security measures in response to threats being posed to schools Nationwide.

To meet the challenge to providing perimeter security and not detracting from the classic aesthetics of the Campus, we designed and installed a prefab modular guardhouse with brick siding and slate style roof.  These architectural features allowed the new security kiosk to blend in and look like it belonged.

The project was completed quickly with minimal disruption to the entrance of the school.  The result is a more secure School for the students accomplished with innovative modular construction techniques.
